Discover the process of designing a new race track, from concept to reality. Operational planning and training. Venue operation and management. Forget it, too complicated. Even Portal taxes my pathetic thumb control. The article begins by stating what sounds like the obvious, but is actually not: the funnest racing games are ones where you never or rarely have to stop accelerating.

This applies especially to arcade games, where players are paying cash for an individual experience, as opposed to console games, which can be played unlimited times. But there are much subtler design strategies at play, too.

Use the rectangle-shaped stickers in the other spaces. Begin applying the stickers at the start, and make the writing and arrows face the same way the cars will be driving. Alternate the different types of stickers around the track.

That is, place them so that when the player performs either action going backward by 3 spaces or forward by 4 spaces , they land on a space with an arrow sticker. Tip: If you use repositionable glue to apply the stickers, you can try different arrangements of the stickers on the racetrack.

Tip: You don't have to use all the stickers. To play the Race Game , you will need a Racetrack game board, a race car for each player, and a die. You can also use game pieces from other games, or you can even make your own pieces with homemade Modeling Dough.

You can also continue play to determine second, third and fourth places. Your game board is now complete! Have fun playing with your friends! Tip: The Racetrack game board can be made in two sizes. Tip: For a sturdier game board, glue the paper game board to a sheet of cardstock or lightweight cardboard. Tip: Make an envelope to store your race cars and extra space stickers.

Download and print the Envelope Pattern pattern. Follow the instructions on the pattern for making the envelope. Tip: The race car playing pieces come in eight colors. Choose your favorite cars to make. Tip: You can easily rearrange the stickers if they are applied with repositionable glue. An arrow space is usually preferable. Tip: Use the Primary Colors Stickers to make a game board for young children, or to reinforce color names. Get started. You are currently using an older browser.
